CNA to LVN — How to Level Up Your Nursing Career (Without Starting From Scratch)
You’ve already taken the first step as a CNA. You’re working with patients, learning how the system works, and making a real difference. Now it’s time to level up your income, your role, and your career — by becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
At Nurse Career College, our CNA-to-LVN Challenge Program is built for experienced CNAs ready to take the next leap. You don’t have to start over — you build on what you already know.
California’s Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) allows qualified CNAs and military medics to “challenge” the NCLEX-PN exam without going through a traditional 12–18 month LVN program — if they meet the right criteria. Our 6-month prep program helps you: Complete theory and clinical hours required by BVNPT. Master body systems, pharmacology, and pediatrics. Receive documentation and application support for BVNPT Study using Saunders and other top-tier NCLEX prep tools. Learn test-taking strategies to maximize your exam performance
Weeks 1–12: Body System Review (1 system per week)
Weeks 13–16: Pharmacology & NCLEX Test Strategy
Weeks 17–24: Pediatrics Clinicals or Paid Work Experience (can be at your current job if eligible)
Classes meet:
Thursday & Friday: 2 PM – 8 PMSaturday: 8 AM – 8 PM
CNAs in California typically earn $18–$23/hr. LVNs earn $28–$45/hr — and often enjoy:
Leadership roles.
Specialized clinical training.
Greater job security.
Priority hiring at hospitals and private practices
CNAs with at least 1 year of experience.
Military medics with medical service history.
Must have paid or unpaid clinical hours with pediatric patients.
We help you gather everything needed to qualify — including verified case logs, time sheets, and supervisor documentation.
